Yes, there was life after the Marine Corps. Fortunately, a very good life!
This book is a follow-on to my published novel ORDERS are ORDERS by Edmund Aiken. It is the memoir of my life after leaving the Marine Corps in June 1961.
My life after leaving the Marine Corps over sixty years ago has been incredible. It has been full of excitement, love, adventure, travel, and personal satisfaction.
After my discharge in 1961, I always tried to put that time of my life totally behind me. In fact, except for my wife’s father, a career Air Force officer, I never told anyone about my military service experiences for over forty years. If you are interested in that time in my life, read “ORDERS are ORDERS,” which I published in 2015.
The big difference between most veterans’ military service and mine was that they were probably proud of what they had done during their enlistment and much of what I did; unfortunately, I was not.
Yes, I was proud of my physical accomplishments, such as completing recon training, jump school, and sniper training. However, I am not proud of the combat experiences I had in North Vietnam working for the CIA well before the official start of the Vietnam War.
